While many people feel very comfortable about visiting the dentists, Dr. Joshua A. Manchester and Dr. Rodger A. Lawton understand that some people may feel anxious or even frightened about their upcoming procedure. Additionally, there are some procedures that may require a patient to be under a form of sedation during their treatment. Northwest Center for Prosthodontics offers sleep dentistry in Olympia, Washington to help you relax during your appointment, or to ensure that your procedure goes smoothly. If you would like to know more about sleep dentistry, or would like to schedule an appointment, please feel free to contact us at 360-459-4400.
With sleep dentistry, you will meet with our dentists prior to your appointment to discuss your medical history and your procedure, to see if sleep dentistry will be suitable for you.
In sleep dentistry, your medication is administered directly into your bloodstream via an IV. In some cases, the medication may be inhaled. This process will help you to quickly relax and feel comfortable during your appointment. As the medication take effect, you will become unconscious, and completely unaware of the procedure.
Sleep dentistry is very safe, and our dentists and highly-trained staff will monitor your condition during your surgery and your recovery in our office. However, you will need someone to drive you home after your appointment. In addition to following the dentists’s post-operative instructions, you should not operate any equipment of any kind, get plenty of rest, and avoid eating anything until the effects of the medication have worn off. We look forward to seeing you in our office soon, and will be happy to make your visit as comfortable as possible.
